Childhood trauma is passed from one generation to the next — and we can help stop it by building trauma-informed communities. That was the message from Dr. Robert Anda, a leading researcher of childhood trauma, during a professional event hosted by Oaklawn in May.

Oaklawn’s 15th Annual Spring Spectacular raised more than $75,000 to help the organization provide mental health and addictions services in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.

Jeannette Walls, author of the New York Times best-selling memoir “The Glass Castle,” spoke to more than 1,000 people at Lerner Theatre in Elkhart and encouraged them to share their stories.
