Addictions Day IOPs (Intensive Outpatient Programs)

Specialized treatment is available for adults who have a combination of addiction and mental health issues. Depression or other psychiatric disorders can be difficult to treat if ongoing alcohol or drug abuse is occurring. Likewise, staying free of alcohol or addictive drugs can be difficult when depression or other mental health issues are present. This program is specifically designed to treat these intertwined symptoms.

Adults who can be helped by Dual Diagnosis IOP are those who:

  • recognize that they have a problem with alcohol or drugs or have tried to stay drug-free but have difficulty staying abstinent;
  • have a psychiatric diagnosis such as a mood disorder or anxiety and have problems in some aspects of their lives because of it;
  • have difficulty functioning at home, on the job, or are stuck in self-defeating cycles or patterns;
  • need more structure and support than can be obtained in outpatient therapy;
  • can stay abstinent of alcohol and drugs of abuse on a one-day-at-a-time basis.

What to expect

Dual Diagnosis IOP is offered Monday through Friday, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., at 101 Marilyn Avenue, Goshen.

Treatment is individually structured so that the frequency of participation is matched with the severity of the problems. As progress occurs, sessions may be reduced from five to three days per week. The length of stay varies based on need, but often consists of 16 to 24 sessions. It is helpful to arrive 30 minutes before group on the first day in order to meet staff and become oriented with the facilities and the program.

Confidential group therapy, educational sessions about particular diagnoses, coping skills, components of recovery, and individualized assignments are are parts of the program. Individual and family sessions and medication management services are scheduled as needed. You will be encouraged to develop an alternative support group of people to help you in your ongoing recovery. Weekly meetings of AA or NA occur outside of the therapy program, but are essential during treatment.

Program fees

Each program component has a separate charge. We will contact your insurance company to obtain prior approval for services. Based on your income and family size, you may be eligible for a discounted fee through the Hoosier Assurance Plan. Staff will talk with you about your particular payment arrangements.
