Outpatient counseling - Marital or family conflict, parenting concerns, death of a loved one, abuse or trauma, stress, addictions, depression and anxiety are just some of the issues that may bring adults to Oaklawn for outpatient care. Many specialized services have been designed for adults who are experiencing emotional problems, including treatment for panic and anxiety or depression. Because Oaklawn’s philosophy includes treatment of the whole person, several pastoral counselors are available to individuals with spiritual concerns.
Outpatient professionals offer psychiatric and addictions assessments, evaluations, and medication management, as well as individual, marital, family and group therapy. Oaklawn has outpatient offices at convenient locations throughout Elkhart County.
Oaklawn offers several groups to support people who have a serious mental illness. Combining education, training and treatment, these groups assist people in gaining the social, emotional and personal skills they need to cope with daily living in addition to addressing the problems caused by their illnesses. Dual diagnosis groups are held for persons who have both a serious mental illness and a chemical dependency. Following intensive outpatient treatment, an ongoing relapse group assists individuals in identifying relapse warning signs and developing a relapse prevention plan.
At Oaklawn, we believe that spiritual faith can be a vital factor in recovery from an emotional illness or addiction. Oaklawn has several pastoral counselors on staff who work with adults who are struggling with issues of religion or faith. Our pastoral counselors are part of multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, helping people explore the link between mental and spiritual health. A chaplain is also available for those in inpatient and residential programs.
