Physicians

Daniel L. Kinsey, M.D., joined the Oaklawn staff in 2000 and has served as medical director since 2003. A board certified adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Kinsey provides medical leadership to all child and adolescent residential programs at Lakeview Drive in addition to his administrative responsibilities. Dr. Kinsey's areas of specialty include mood disorders and ADHD.

 

Elisa P. Bell, M.D., is a working part-time at 415 East Madison St., South Bend. A board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Bell joined Oaklawn in 2011. Her area of expertise is affective disorders.

  

 

Beatrice Brewer, M.D., is a part-time psychiatrist with the physician’s clinic at 415 East Madison St., South Bend, where she sees adults on an outpatient basis. Board certified in adult psychiatry, Dr. Brewer joined Oaklawn in 2011. She specializes in treatment of women’s issues and addictions.

 

 

 

LaRissa M. Chism-Buggs, M.D., joined the Oaklawn staff in 2010. Board certified in both adult and forensic psychiatry, she sees adults at 330 Lakeview Drive, Goshen, and 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. Dr. Chism-Buggs specializes in mood disorders, women’s issues, as well as chronic and persistent mental illness.

 

 

Harry Charkatz, M.D., is a board certified psychiatrist who sees adults at 415 E. Madison St., South Bend. On staff since 2012, Dr. Charkatz specializes in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

 

 

 

Shagufta Chowhan, M.D., is board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Chowhan sees adults at 415 East Madison St., South Bend, as well as local group homes and nursing homes. Dr. Chowhan’s areas of expertise are borderline and bipolar disorders, and working with developmentally disabled adults. She joined the Oaklawn staff in 2011.

 

 

L. Elaine Duryea, D.O., rejoined the staff in 2009 after having previously worked at Oaklawn for more than 12 years. Dr. Duryea works with adults on an outpatient basis at both 330 Lakeview Drive and 2600 Oakland Avenue. Board certified in adult psychiatry, Dr. Duryea specializes in mood disorders, anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

 

Manana Gegeshidze, M.D., is a psychiatrist at 415 East Madison St., South Bend and 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. Board certified in adult psychiatry, Dr. Gegeshidze joined Oaklawn in 2013. Her areas of specialty include treatment of schizophrenia, depression, as well as bipolar and anxiety disorders.

 

Josh J. Mathew, M.D., is board certified in adult psychiatry and works with the adult inpatient and outpatient programs at 330 Lakeview Drive, Goshen. Dr. Mathew joined the Oaklawn staff in 2006. He specializes in crisis stabilization and acute outpatient care.
Timothy C. McFadden, M.D., joined Oaklawn's staff in 1995 as a psychiatrist working with adults. His practice is located at 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. Board certified in adult psychiatry, his areas of interest include depression, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

 

Michael Platt, M.D., is a psychiatrist working with adults at 415 East Madison St., South Bend, and 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. Board eligible in adult psychiatry, he joined the staff in 2012. His areas of interest include post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorder, psychotic disorder, and working with the seriously mentally ill.

Carl N. Rutt, M.D., joined the Oaklawn staff in 1982, served for 21 years as medical director, and is now senior psychiatrist. Board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Rutt maintains a clinical practice at 330 Lakeview Drive, Goshen. He has a particular interest in depression, anxiety and psychotic disorders in children, adolescents and adults.
Gary M. Seltman, M.D., is medical director for Senior Intensive Services at 330 Lakeview Drive, Goshen. Board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry, Dr. Seltman works with adults and seniors. On staff since 1994, his areas of expertise include working with seniors, mood and anxiety disorders, and pharmacotherapy.

 

Judy K. Snyder, M.D., joined the Oaklawn staff in 1985, and is located at 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. She is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Snyder’s areas of interest include autism, ADHD and other psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents.

 

Allen J. Stuckey, M.D., joined the Oaklawn staff in 1997, and is located at 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. He is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. With 17 years experience as a pediatrician, Dr. Stuckey’s areas of special interest include medical and psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents, as well as ADHD and depression.

 

Roohi Bano Sualeh, M.D., is a psychiatrist at 415 East Madison St., South Bend. Board eligible in adult psychiatry, she joined the staff in 2012. Her areas of interest include schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

 

Susan Meyer Taccheri, M.D., joined the staff in 2001 and sees youth on an outpatient basis at 2600 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart. She is a board certified adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist and is also certified in addictions treatment. She specializes in crisis intervention and treatment of co-existing mental health and substance abuse issues in children and adolescents.

 

Evert VanderStoep, M.D., is a part-time psychiatrist with the physician’s clinic at 415 East Madison St., in South Bend. He sees adults at that location as well as the St. Joseph County Jail. On staff since 2011, his areas of expertise include psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and geriatric psychiatry.
